Lizzie learns to play Wii

I went to work today and Cody and Lizzie helped my parents clean up from all of the roofing. It is finally done! When I got back to my parents I laid down to take a nap on the floor. You know they say that boxer's attach themselves to the youngest member of the family, well, Roxy (my brothers dog that is staying with us) has attached herself to me and not Lizzie. When I asked why, I was told that dogs can hear the heartbeat in the womb. Well, I guess that this proves it. She wants to be as close to my belly as possible.
Lizzie woke me up from my nap and the next thing I knew my two darlings were playing uncle Matthew's Wii. Cody was the one that was really playing and Lizzie thought that she was playing. It is so funny to see her try to play a video game. I am really glad that we do not have one of these at home. Cody enjoys it too much and we would never get anything done at our house if we had one! :)

God is in control

This weekend has brought lots of new things to the Riedel house. When one door closes many more open. The biggest change is that as of Thursday, Cody is officially Mr. Mom. That was the text that I received anyway. Then on sunday night, of all things, that movie was on tv. Perfect timing.
We are praying and waiting to see what God's will is in all of this. Cody was layed off and the biggest issue that we have right now is insurance. I am up for suggestions on this part. We all went on a new insurance on Jan 1st and I can put us on my insurance, but don't know yet if pregnancy is going to be a pre-existing condition. I have heard many opinions on this, but have yet to figure out the facts. I plan to contact some people tomorrow regarding the issue.

Another big change in our house is that we had our first flip on Saturday night. Lizzie always bends over and touches the floor, but finally flipped over and has not stopped since. She is making herself dizzy and Cody and I are getting dizzy just watching her.

Lizzie has also taken some time to play on the tractor this weekend. She has been full of energy and ready to go, but best of all...she went potty like a big girl today. It has only happened once so far, but we are very proud regardless. She has been in pull ups and training panties since Thursday and is doing very good.
With all the changes in our world, the next few weeks should be interesting. :)

On a weekday

I often wonder what my darling does at home all day with my mother while I am at work. Then I get an email with these pics. Lizzie loves dogs. She is attached to this one which is Roxy. We recently watched Roxy for 2 weeks while my brother was out of town and they are now best friends. I guess Lizzie sits in the recliner all day. I wonder who she sees doing that? If only I could put a nanny cam up at my mothers house!

A new mexican addition

This past weekend Lizzie, Cody and I traveled to Fort Worth to celebrate with our new Godchild. Cody and I now have another little girl in the family. Little Delaney Yvette Betts. She was baptized on Saturday and Onie, Delaney's mom, thought it would only be right to dress Delaney in her motorcycle gear after the baptism.
She had a bandana on and was ready for the ride. Cody and I are so blessed to be Godparents to little Delaney. She is a miracle as it is and we think that it is a miracle that we will always be in her life. She is our mexican little girl! (There is a story here, maybe to be told at a later time).
Lizzie was not loving the trip to Fort Worth, but on the way home she was a little angel. We stopped in Waco and decided to buy her this cool little apple juice bottle. It lasted all of 10 minutes and then she proceeded to turn it upside down in her lap and she was covered in juice. It was ok though. I had A&M sweat pants for her and we were good to go!
Overall, it was a wonderful weekend with lots of fun, but we were very happy to be home. Lizzie for one. She runs straight to her play kitchen every time that we walk in the door.

Brown roofing

After the hurricane my parents had to get a new roof. They decided to go with a tin roof that they have wanted for 15 plus years. It was time to get the dream roof that they always wanted for their dream house.Problem is...this is not a do it yourself type of job. Cody and I have spent countless hours at their house as well as my cousin Brandon and my uncle Don. Everyone has pitched in to get this done. My little brother Matthew, as silly as he may be, has worked his rear off the last couple of weeks.
It seemed to be slow going at first, but after a sliced finger, a sliced arm, countless blisters, lots of sweat and several slips down the roof, they are close to being done.
I enjoy being at my parents because I have been able to go shopping while Lizzie takes a nap. Mom has allowed me to get lots of baby shopping done. Another slow going job!
I went to the dr last Thursday and the little one is just fine. The ultrasound didn't show any problems and I have finally started to gain weight. Dr Castillo still says that I have only gained 4 pounds, but I don't believe it!

And we are sick again

Please excuse the mess. Our bedroom has not been repaired since Ike, so Cody and I still have our mattresses on the floor with the bedroom suit in the dining room. We were waiting to get a new roof before we started on the room.
Lizzie loves it though because she can climb up on the bed.
The day after Christmas, Cody slept all day. He was sick and Lizzie started getting sick again too on that day.
Lizzie wanted to lay in bed with her daddy and talk on the phone so bad that she kept trying to steal the phone from him.
I finally went and got her the phone that goes with her play kitchen and it was all down hill from there. Riedels...we have a talker!!!!
When it was all said and done, I made both of them go to the doctor. Lizzie had an ear infection and it has taken about a week for it to finally clear up!

Christmas at Grandma's in El Campo

After all of the fun at home with our new gifts, we drove to El Campo for Christmas with Cody's moms side of the family. Lizzie fits right in with her love of Grandmas noodle soup. That is all that I could get her to eat that day, and boy does she get it everywhere. She is good at using a spoon to eat with, but it is much more fun to eat soup with your hands.
Then we opened presents and the rest of the afternoon was spent listening to popping noises from her gift that she got from her Aunt Brenda. :)
I know that we all had one of these as a kid, but do you know how annoying they are? She loves it! She had a wonderful day, and was a pro in the car.

Here comes Santa Clause

Lizzie loved Christmas this year. She got lots of presents and she even loved the present that her mommy got. I got a bike with a carrier for my little Lizzie. She calls it her vroom vroom and puts her hands up like she is putting them on the handle bars of a motorcycle.
Lizzie got a tea set. I could not believe that she was already at an age where she could pretend to drink tea. She pours the tea and says "ssssssss" and then drinks out of her cup. She likes for someone to do it with her.

Since we are expecting in May, I wanted Lizzie to get ready for all that is going to be taking place. Santa brought her a crib, stoller, playmat, and bouncer for her baby dolls. She loves to put her babies to sleep.
She uses the stroller to run over everyone and everything. We were pet sitting over the holiday and Lizzie learned to chase the dog with it and giggled as the dog ran from her.
Santa was good to all of us and for Christmas eve and Christmas Day we were all healthy!!!
